Frequently Asked Questions.
What is transformation coaching?
In the simplest terms, it’s a process that can help you become the greatest version of yourself. We will work together to set goals, determine passions, define purpose, and plot out the ways to achieve everything from your wildest dreams. It can be challenging. It can feel impossible at times. It can also be the most rewarding, impactful journey of your life.
How is coaching different from therapy?
Therapy is about your past. Coaching is about your future.
I’ve worked in therapeutic programs before. It can be beneficial for everyone, I encourage all my clients to also see a therapist if they aren’t already. Working through past traumas and understanding who you are and why you are, is essential.
Coaching is geared toward taking all your thoughts, desires, musings, etc. and turning them into tangible elements in your life.
Why a platypus?
It is an odd choice for a logo, especially since it doesn’t undergo a transformation like, say a butterfly. I’ve always felt a kinship with the platypus. It’s such an odd, undefinable creature. It has characteristics of a mammal and a reptile. It looks cute but it’s also venomous. In many ways I feel similarly about myself. I have many different traits and I don’t feel like just one thing defines me. Like the cute but venomous platypus, mine is the opposite- At first I appear to have a cold or hard exterior. But underneath those layers of trauma is a soft, kind, and playful person. I constantly challenge myself to bring those aspects to the surface and peel away the harsh exterior.
What are the expectations?
I expect punctuality, honesty, and commitment.
Attending every session is paramount. Even if the mental or emotional commitment isn’t there on certain days, still showing up is a major accomplishment.
Speaking openly about beliefs, goals, struggles, etc. is vital to the journey. I will always be honest and direct. My hope is that you will as well, even during challenging times.
Commitment doesn’t just apply to showing up for sessions. It means having the fortitude to take on things that push you outside your comfort zone. Understanding that growth and change only come from new ideas, new experiences, and trials. Forgiveness is the other side of that coin. Allowing yourself grace and humility when things are at their hardest, is extremely important to remember.
